Dr. Kauffman earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). He then completed a prestigious Residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry. Dr. Kauffman received his Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
Dr. Kauffman was previously a clinical assistant professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry, where he was the clinic director for the Cornea and Contact Lens Service and Myopia Management Service in addition to teaching 3rd and 4th year optometry students in the clinic. He also performed clinical research investigating the use of wavefront guided scleral lenses for patients with keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, cornea transplants, post-refractive surgery ectasia, and more.
Dr. Kauffman founded Contemporary Eye Care in 2022 to provide the residents of Katy, Elyson, Cypress, Cy-Fair, Houston, and surrounding communities with comprehensive eye care, specialty contact lenses, and myopia management (myopia control). He is a recognized expert in these areas with over 12 years of experience and continues to lecture and publish on the topics of specialty contact lenses, keratoconus, myopia management, and corneal disease.
He is a fellow in the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) and the Scleral Lens Education Society (SLS), where he serves as President of the Scleral Lens Education Society board. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association.
